ANGELA MCBRIDE | SENIOR JOB CAPTAIN

Who or what inspired you to become an architect or designer?
I have always been interested in drawing and different kinds of art, architecture being one of them. For me, designing gives me an opportunity to combine both of those items.

What is your favorite thing about design – and why?
Currently my favorite part of the design industry is the programming software. Using Revit and seeing your building being created in front of your eyes is incredible. Being able to show your clients a more realistic view of the building in the planning stages is so helpful for them to understand what a realistic view will be or maybe even any design issues that came up during planning. The new programs are terrific!

Describe a design project you’re working on right now, whether professional or personal, that you’re especially proud of—and why?
I will always be proud of my first multi-family project. It was just an overall good experience and I learned a lot. Just watching it come to life was amazing to me. I was very proud of that project.

What advice would you give women who are just entering or considering a career in architecture?
Anyone coming into this line of work should learn any standards and processes the company has in place to create the project documents and/or learn an efficient way of getting the jobs done. It will help with timelines, organization, having multiple projects at once, and of course it helps the budgets of the projects. And remember to always ask questions!
